When did you start in the SCA?

I started in the SCA in 2009, shortly after meeting my Sweetheart, Linda/ Fíne. She was ready to return to the SCA after a long break and I was happy to join her. couple

Where did you start your SCA adventure?

I have been here in Windmasters’ Hill the whole time. More specifically, Nimenefeld and House Flaming Bolt welcomed me in and made me feel at ease from the start.

What is your favorite part of the SCA?

As much as I enjoy the pageantry, and the spectacle and the atmosphere of the SCA… the people that I have met is my favorite part of the SCA.

What was your most memorable event in the SCA so far?

We day tripped Saturday at War of the Wings 3 or 4 years ago and I was gobsmacked by the sight of so many canvas tents in one place…. Then, there was Lord Gaelan’s feast at Ymir last year..Super is a start at describing it….And then, I had seen Efenwealt and Aenor in several venues and performances before, but around a campfire last year at WoW, to watch them prompt and encourage each other in their playing and singing was a thing of beauty.  I couldn’t pick just one. and that barely scratches the surface. (I take tissues to court ‘cuz I always cry with joy.)

brian1What would you tell a newcomer to look forward to in the SCA?

A newcomer to the SCA can look forward to meeting great people that they never would have had the chance to meet or make connections with outside of it. Be open to learn new things. And remember that there are as many ways to play in the SCA as there are players. That’s why it’s a Society and not a club. The range of experiences to be had are so broad and the layers so many that it takes time to create your own place in the society.
