Youth
Forms & Activities
NOTE: If
you are planning to bring a child not your own to the
event, please be sure to obtain the proper forms (see below)! We
cannot allow children on site without the proper forms!
You need
two forms:
Children’s
Waiver to Participate
Minor
Medical Waiver (pdf)
Both
forms must be signed by child/children's parents/legal guardian and notarized.
Youth
Fighting: There will be a combat tournament for all eligible
Youth of Atlantia on Saturday at 11:00am.
Youth
A&S: We encourage all the youth attending to display an item
related in some (any!) way to Don Quixote. The A&S will be divided
by age 5-7 8-10, 11-13, and 14-17. All children will receive a token for
their participation. We ask that all entries have at least some documentation.
Documentation can include: What is this? When was this made in period?
Where was this made in period? Who would have made this in period? How
would this have been made in period? How did I make this?
Wee One's Corner: Open all day, except for during feast.
A quiet shaded area with toys and books where the little ones can relax
under parental supervision.
Children's Corner: 11:30-12:30 and 3-4pm. For children
aged 4-8. In the morning we will construct and decorate horses, in the
afternoon we will ride our horses through various equestrian games. Loaner
horses will be available for those who miss the morning session. Children
will use markers and paint and will need to be able to tie a knot. Parents
please read the rules about Children's Corners at http://kmom.atlantia.sca.org/KMOM_Policies/participation/participation.html
and be aware that if the ratio of one assistant (aged over 14) per 5 children
is not met children will be turned away until the allowed ratio is reached.
Midsummer's typically has a LOT of kids attending, so if you or someone
you know can volunteer please do so. If you want to contact me before
the event with the times you would most like to work I will make up a
shift schedule.
Quest: There will be an interactive quest throughout
the day. It will be geared towards older children and teenagers, younger
children may participate but will need parental supervision. The Quest
must be completed by 4pm at which point the Questor's will meet to discuss
their findings in an area to be designated later.
Page and Page Age Activities: In the morning older children
are encouraged to participate in the Quest or to contact those working
the event to see where they can help out. Pages should make sure to bring
their paperwork so their time spent helping can be documented for credit.
After court we will have classes for Page credit. Classes will be posted
once they receive the approval by the Pages Academy. In the works are
classes on craziness and horses in the time of Don Quixote, we welcome
submissions for any classes at all related to Don Quixote, Cervantes,
Spain, or anything you can at all connect to the theme of the event. We
promise you will not be bored!
Teen Gallery: A pavilion will be placed on the field
in which the teens of the Barony can view the fighting, play games and
socialize. The teens will be asked to bestow a token on the Youth Fighter
they deem most chivalrous. Games and light snacks will be provided. We
ask that any bards or performers attending the event stop by and entertain
our young adults. Teens ONLY except for entertainers!
Donations Welcomed. All items donated become property
of the Barony of Windmasters' Hill to be used for Youth related activities.
Items desired are: toddler safe toys for the Wee One's Corner; books for
all ages, preferably related in some way to the time periods and activities
of the SCA; craft supplies of all sorts; period games of all sorts; any
items appropriate for prizes; empty glass baby food jars; empty coffe
cans; scrap fabric of all kinds; yarn of all kinds; used candles and broken
crayons; and anything else you think the kids would enjoy! There will
be a bin for donations at Troll.
We look forward
to seeing many children at Midsummer's! If you are coming with children,
it would be wonderful if you could include the ages of your children in
your reservation, or mail the Youth Activities coordinator so that we
have an idea of how many kids to plan for. Make sure you bring with you
the proper forms for children! These forms differ if you bring children
not your own. The forms can be found at http://www.sca.org/docs/.
If you are a Page make sure to bring Request for Credit forms so you can
get credit for your volunteering, A&S entry, or classes. Pages forms
can be found at http://pagesacademy.atlantia.sca.org/.
