Lord
Charles Fleming is a Flemish ally of the English who joined King Edward's
army after the battle of Sluis. Even as a hardened veteran, he was
shocked to see peasants with longbows slaughtering high-born French
knights at Crecy. It just wasn't right, and no good will come of it.
Thirty years ago in far Ansteorra, rumor has it
that Charles Fleming used different aliases. Some say he wore satin
and lace with a curly wig, and others say he dressed as a Persian
Mongol who wore mostly sesame oil. His good wife isn't telling.

Maestra
Francesca la Curiosa |
 |
 |
Maestra
Francesca loves making bobbin lace, talking about it, teaching it
and one day she may even wear some of it. She loves most things involving
fiber, once it's spun, so if there's a String Thing (knitting, netting,
sprang, naal binding, inkle weaving, all but woven in the forms of
lace covered by Arachne's Web, etc.) you're interested in learning,
ask. She may be able to help or point you in the right direction to
learn about it. Currently she is Guild Mistress for Atlantia's Arachne's
Web, the lace guild, and hosts a String Thing gathering at her
home the fourth Sunday afternoon of most months. |

Helwynn Ivelchild |
|
 |
Lady
Helwynn Ivelchild has found much more time to run the Baronial "cooking"
guild ever since the regrettable and untimely deaths of the previous
guildmaster and her sixth, seventh and eighth husbands. She enjoys
long walks in her herb garden and can often be found tending to her
eggplants, tomatoes, and other similar plants. |

Galeran Chanterel |
|
 |
Preferring
minstrelsy to the medicine his father sent him to Paris to study,
Galeran Chanterel has sung and danced in Aethelmearc, the Middle,
the East, Atlantia and Northshield ever since dropping out of school.
He has particular fondness for the dances of Italy and his native
Burgundy, but is well versed in all forms expected of a proper gentleman.
Galeran is also an accomplished recorder player and harper and has
played recently with Master Robyyan's consort "The Baron's Noyse"
in the Middle Kingdom. |

Letia Thistelthueyt |

Between
sneaking out to learn swords with her older brother, spending hours
climbing up the tree that over looked the neighbor's paint studio,
hiding in the corners of the pub that the bards frequented, and inviting
herself to every dance that she could sneak into, her parents never
knew where to look for Letia. This was how she liked it, better then
cleaning... blah. Somehow, she still manages to live this way, much
to her parents' dismay. Perhaps someday she will grow out of it...
but we doubt it! |

Rhieinwylydd
was born on the northwest coast of what is now Wales in the year 966.
She has been active in the SCA for over ten years; her interests include
(but are by no means limited to) needlework, cooking, heraldry and
music. |
| Lord
Piero Volpe |
|
 |
Lord
Piero, having made his fortune trading spices, medicines and poppies
from Cathay, now serves as the local moneylender and extends the helpful
protection of his household guards to the many local merchants with
whom he has "business arrangements." Lord Piero wishes to
note that he was as shocked and dismayed as any to find the body of
Omar, a noted purveyor of medicines and elixirs from Arabia, floating
by the docks last week. Rumors of weekly bacchanialian dinners at
Piero's piazza are greatly exaggerated. |
| Lady
Philippa Tillinghast |
 |
 |
Lady
Phillipa, or "Madame Pippa" as we call her affectionately,
is among the most upstanding members of our community. Aside from
her position as head of the canton's town council, she runs an orphanage
and halfway house for disadvantaged boys and young men. After rescuing
them from a harsh life on the streets she trains and raises these
fine boys in all manner of gentlemanly arts and pursuits, including
athleticism, viticulture and massage therapy, then helps them sell
their services to the many fine and noble ladies of our barony. Recent
rumors of her
frenzied bidding on muscular, loincloth-clad lads at a barbarian slave
auction are nothing but vicious slander and will not be tolerated
further. |

Rosanella Vespucci |
 |
 |
Lady
Rosanella Vespucci is the daughter of an Italian merchant, born in
Venice in 1487. She has traveled extensively with her father on his
many excursions to obtain exotic and interesting wares. Rose greatly
enjoyed growing up in Venice and it was there that she grew to love
music (particularly singing), embroidery, and art. She has the red
hair beloved of Renaissance artists and is of the family of Simonetta
Vespucci, model for Botticelli's "Birth of Venus." During
her travels, she met and married a Scotsman named Daryll mac Donnchaidh,
a great and noble warrior who was tragically killed on September 9,
1513 while fighting for King James IV on a hill of northern England
near the Scottish border. The English defeated the Scots and mac Donnchaidh's
King was killed by his side. In the two years prior to her husband's
death, Lady Vespucci gave birth to two sons- Seamus mac Donnchaidh
and Aonghus mac Donnchaidh. Although the boys returned with their
mother to be raised in Venice among the enlightened and learned of
the Renaissance, they did not lose the fierce blood of their father.
Both men have grown into warriors in their own right and are in training
in the Kingdom of Atlantia where they now live with their mother.
The family broke their sea voyage in the Stronghold of Raven's Cove
where they resided for a short while. During that time, Lady Vespucci,
called Rose by the members of her Canton, became interested in Heraldry
and became the group Herald. With a desire to learn more about this
great Kingdom of Atlantia, Rose moved her family to the wonderful
Canton of Buckston-on-Eno where Rose was recently appointed Chatelaine
for the group. She adores greeting newcomers and sharing with them
all she can about the Dream that is Fair Atlantia. |
